Against the Grain @ Dawson City Film Festival
Dawson City Film Festival will be holding it's 13th film festival from March 28 to March 31st. I am honored to have my latest 16mm film Against the Grain screen at this festival. If you are gong to be there please check out my film!
Crichton Cultural Community Centre Film Screening - January 25th 2013
My film Against the Grain will be screened at the Crichton Cultural Community Centre's Friday night film night on January 25 2013. The centre is holding an evening of films created through The Independent Filmmakers Co-operative of Ottawa. The screening will take place at Memorial Hall at 39 Dufferin Rd. Ottawa ON. Doors open at 6:30pm and screening starts at 7pm, tickets are $5.00. Filmmakers will be in attendance to participate in a Q&A following the screening.

December 6, 2012: Cafe Ex - Roger D. Wilson
On December 6, 2012 at 7:00pm The Canadian Film Institute will be screening my films as part of their Cafe Ex program. Inaugurated in 1998, this on-going visiting artist series presents artist-curated evenings of independent experimental film and video in the intimate atmosphere of Club SAW. The series features Canadian experimental cinema, with guest filmmakers presenting their work and engaging in extensive discussions with audience members for a "pay-what-you-can" admission.

The following is a filmmaking workshop being held at The Independent Filmmakers Co-operative of Ottawa in September and October of 2012. I will be teaching some of the classes for this course. Please check out their website for more information.
PICTURE AND SOUND - A HANDS ON APPROACH TO 16MM FILMMAKING WITH SOUND IN MIND
6 Consecutive Weekends, Saturdays and Sundays – Sept.8/9, Sept.15/16, Sept.22/23, Oct.6/7, Oct.13/14 & Oct 20/21.
Time: 10:00am to 5:00pm
Where: IFCO - Suite #140 - #2 Daly Avenue
Cost: $550.00 (Non-Members need to obtain an IFCO Membership)

Through hands-on-training students will be given the chance to learn the process of making a short 16mm narrative film, with both picture and sound being the focus of this workshop students will collaborate together to create a short 3 minute film. Students will be fully trained on IFCO’s 16mm E’Clair camera and the Tascam Flash Card field recorder. All sound is recorded on location, simultaneous with the images.
Students will be introduced to the three main stages of filmmaking:
Pre-Production: Some of the topics to be covered will be budgeting, grant writing and storytelling. Students will additionally be provided with three to four short scripts to choose from; they will then select one script, which they will storyboard and prep for production;
Production: Camera, Sound, Lighting and Grip;
Post-Production: Editing on Final Cut Pro, both picture and sound.
